Capo San Marco is the southern tip of the Sinis Peninsula. It separates the open sea from the Gulf of Oristano and combines landscape, archaeology and coastal architecture in one of the area’s most distinctive places.

Why visit Capo San Marco

The headland offers different views on each side: the exposed west coast on one side and more sheltered waters towards the gulf on the other. Along the trails you will see archaeological remains and coastal towers.

Walking and views

The trails are exposed to sun and wind. Suitable shoes, water and sunscreen are recommended. In summer avoid the hottest hours; at sunset the light is especially beautiful over Tharros and the headland.

Capo San Marco and Tharros

Combine the visit with the Tharros archaeological area and San Giovanni di Sinis. It is one of the best routes for understanding the relationship between history and landscape in the Sinis.
